Logo and Business Card Design

image

We received an email from good friend, Steve Downie, early this week about creating a logo and business card design. Steve is a lifestyle photographer whose claim to fame is his most excellent captures of local performers in their element, their roadies and the small details that set them apart.

Steve also has the good fortune of calling Cleveland his home base - land of decayed factories, grunge rock and metamorphic weather. This all meant that his logo needed to fit in with that local nuance, it needed to simultaneously blend in and stand out.

Matt and I spent a few hours working separately to send Steve a few ideas from each of our perspective. I preferred a weathered, band-looking logo to fit with his genre of photography while Matt shot for a crisp, clean and professional look. We both decided that his initials were the best way to go.

Because Steve liked the two shown above, we decided to combine them for a final version.

The business card itself needed to reflect an edgier, dirtier and more active brand than his colleagues. This is the design we choose to go with; no frills and a bit of attitude.
We hope you enjoy Steve!
