DIY Wool Mittens

I was going to give away my secret recipe for Honey Cajun Turkey Rub, but due to the inexplicably cold weather here in the South, I was inspired to make mittens instead.

Tools and Materials:

Paper
Marker
Scissors
Old Wool Sweater (support your local PTA or Salvo!)
Pins
Sewing machine
Thread (neon is easy to see)

* Please note: If you decide to give these as a Christmas gift, remember that not everyone has the same sized hands. Also, you’ll notice that I used a knitted sweater. Apparently I was so distracted by a man stealing boxer briefs at the Jones Ferry PTA, I mistook cotton for wool.

* Allow an extra 1/2 inch around the outline if the sweater you are using is bulky.

With right sides facing, pin the mitten cutouts together, then with a sewing machine (recommended - sewing by hand took me over an hour), use a zigzag stitch and sew them together. To prevent fraying, sew around the mitten again, leaving a 1/8-inch seam allowance.
